A Message from the Committee Chair at Dominguez Hills
More than 95 years ago, the forefathers of the aviation industry made history on land adjacent to the campus of California State University, Dominguez Hills. Yet, very few people even know of the existence of the 1910 Los Angeles International Air Meet at Dominguez Field. The 1910 Dominguez Air Meet Project will help to change all that.
We felt compelled to get the word out about this significant event and what you will find here on these pages should serve as an introduction to the meet and it's historical significance, and encourage those who wish to know more to do further research or contact the Archives division of the University Library for access to the world's most comprehensive depository of information on this seminal event .
This project is now, and will continue to be, the premiere archive repository for researchers everywhere and for the people of California, the United States, and beyond who wish to know more about the 1910 Los Angeles International Air Meet at Dominguez Field. One can learn about the achievements of the brave men who made aviation history here near CSU Dominguez Hills and, at the same time, gain a unique perspective on the early 20th century city of Los Angeles and the fledging yet exciting aviation industry.
It is suggested that interested parties perform a search with their favorite engine (Google.com, Excite. com, Yahoo.com, etc.) using the search terms "1910 air meet" for a myriad of new and interesting links.
Though these pages will always be under construction, I hope you will enjoy this body of work and be the richer for so doing.
James Sudalnik, Ph.D.
Chair, 1910 Dominguez Air Meet Committee
