Welcome to California State University Dominguez Hills!
On behalf of the entire campus community, I welcome you to our website and our University. I am confident you will discover what I already know – that CSU Dominguez Hills is a transformative institution that provides an outstanding educational experience to a diverse student body. CSU Dominguez Hills has a 50 year tradition of excellence, and we want you to be a part of it. I think you will agree that high caliber programs and exciting developments are a common occurrence. Our faculty and staff are second to none; they care deeply about students and their intellectual development, they conduct their research with student participation, and they teach because they are passionate about their disciplines and student success. Our University is well-known for being supportive, accessible, and welcoming.
You will see that our community embraces diversity in every possible dimension: racial, cultural, ethnic, gender, sexual orientation, religious, economic, political, and intellectual. We know that such an environment provides a distinct advantage for our students, because upon graduation they will be entering a diverse global society prepared to be the next leaders. We truly believe we are one of the best urban universities in the country and that our graduates leave here not just better educated but better equipped for life.
We understand that a university learning experience includes not only what happens in the classroom but also around the campus and community. Excellent student-led plays and concerts, winning sporting events, and world class art exhibits, coupled with numerous cultural activities and guest speaker series throughout each semester foster a vibrant campus life. Our students also are out in the community making a difference and that commitment to volunteerism has been recognized at the national level. We were extremely honored that in 2009-2010 CSU Dominguez Hills was named to the President’s Higher Education Community Service with Distinction Honor Roll, and it is because our students are making a difference in the world.
CSU Dominguez Hills is also a community resource, and we welcome outside guests to attend our events and use our facilities to engage, connect and collaborate. Among the many great buildings on campus are the 475-seat University Theatre, a 12,000-square foot University Art Gallery space, and at the heart of campus, the Loker Student Union, which features a fine dining restaurant, sports bar and food court and, conference rooms, and a grand and beautiful 500 person-capacity ballroom. In April 2010, we opened a stunning new addition to our library, which with its expanded study areas, computer labs, and book storage will benefit our students – as well as the region – for years to come.
I welcome your interest in this campus and invite you to explore this website further to learn more about CSU Dominguez Hills. After you have visited our virtual campus, please plan to visit us in person and learn firsthand why this is a great place to learn and work.
Dr. Mildred García
President, CSU Dominguez Hills
