Position Summary:
The Department of Africana Studies at California State University, Dominguez Hills seeks a pool of candidates for Part-Time Lecturer positions. Lecturers may teach courses in General Education or in Africana Studies. The Department has a global orientation and is dedicated to exposing students to an Africana perspective.

AFS 201 African World Civilization
AFS 220 African Peoples and Cultures
AFS 212 Intro to Comparative Ethnic and Global Societies
AFS 241 History of African Peoples: 1450-1888
AFS 242 History of African Peoples: 1888-Present
AFS 395 Africana Popular Culture: The Hip Hop Nation
SBS 318 African Diaspora in the Latin America and Caribbean
Qualifications:
Candidates normally hold at least an earned MA. Degree from an accredited university in African Studies, African American Studies, African Diaspora Studies or other relevant disciplines. Under unique and extraordinary circumstances, candidates may be considered for Part-Lecturer positions if they possess special knowledge or skills. Teaching experience in an urban university preferred. Candidates must demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching. It is desirable for the candidate to be a member of relevant professional associations that directly relate to the field.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach general education and regular course offerings in Africana Studies.

Application Deadline: The Review Committee will begin reviewing and ranking Part-Time Lecturer candidates in October of each year and will filled teaching vacancy from that pool.
