Why major in Africana Studies?

Why major in Africana Studies? This is the single most asked question by parents and students alike when they visit Universities and Colleges across the county. The answer to this question is quite simple. Students who majored or minored in Africana Studies over the past three decades have acquired a broad based knowledge in the Liberal Arts that has provided them with a solid intellectual foundation for further academic development and professional advancement. An Africana Studies degree provides students with critical knowledge and analytical skills that are necessary for them to function in the national and global arenas. Africana Studies curriculum is designed to prepare students to expand their intellectual horizon beyond tradition frames of references of the academy.
