Volunteer
The arena of volunteerism is a very old and well honored tradition in America. Studies have shown that almost one hundred million Americans volunteer their time, talent and treasures to various causes each year. The motivation for volunteering usually stems from an individual’s life passions. Some of these passions include standing in a line to assist with feeding the hungry, reading stories to children, chairing a meeting, addressing envelopes, acting as house ushers for major entertainment events, purchasing tickets and attending a gala benefit or writing a check to a favorite charity.
Do you have a desire to volunteer and get involved with your alma mater? Do you have a question on how to get involved? If so, the following are some ways you can do just that:
- Join the Alumni Association, Inc.
- Attend campus events – plays, concerts, lectures, sports and more!
- Join the “alumni processional” at Commencement – and at the Honors Convocation.
- Join a special-interest group (called Affinity Groups) or create a new one.
- Become a volunteer on behalf of your university.
- Make a difference in the life of a student by becoming a mentor for Student Services, Educational Opportunity Program or another program.
- Become a tutor.
- Make presentations on behalf of Dominguez Hills at various organizations or groups.
- Imprint your name on a brick for $100.00 and become a permanent part of campus.
These just a few of the ways you can get involved. We are always open to exploring new and exciting ways for you to stay connected to the University.
