“Hungry for More: A keeping it real guide for Black Women's weight and body image” by Robyn McGee
Robyn McGee, a CSUDH alumni, is a longtime activist and women's rights advocate. She is currently the Director of Women's Resources at CSUDH, and she frequently lectures on women's issues and popular culture. She has recently published her new book “Hungry for More” . Robyn McGee offers a holistic approach to weight and health by addressing their social and cultural implications. With foreword and praise by former U.S. Surgeon General, Joycelyn Elders, M.D., “ Hungry for More” is a straight-talking, informative book that encourages readers to take control of their health and utilize practical ways they can combat obesity and an unhealthy lifestyle. McGee believes that without first addressing the deficiencies in our perception; no diet or surgery can be successful. “The Fall Health Fair focuses on saving an Alumnus from dying of Leukemia”
Jerome Williams (Class of '91, B.S., Business Administration/Computer Information Systems) is an alumni who desperately needs a bone marrow transplant because he has a special kind of leukemia. He's become resistant to the drug he is currently using. He has a special racial makeup which makes it difficult to find a match, and if he doesn't get a match, he will die. Probably anybody on our campus would be appropriate, because we are such a diverse mixture of people. If you would like to how you can help or simply find out more information please contact the Student Health Center at 310-243-3629.
