Community Connections
A Vital Resource for a Vital Community
CSU Dominguez Hills serves as a critical academic resource to our community and region. The university makes a serious commitment to community involvement, focusing our efforts on six core areas integral to the continued success of the South Bay region of Los Angeles County:
- Education
- Arts and Culture
- Business
- Youth
- Health and Wellness
- Civic Action
Contributing to Our Local Economy
CSU Dominguez Hills' positive impact on the South Bay's economy can be measured not only by the number of students who have successfully completed their degrees, but by what those students are doing with their education. CSU Dominguez Hills has over 80,000 alumni, half of whom lives within 25 miles of campus. They have stayed in the community, raising families, building careers, and contributing to the local economy.
More than a recognized institution of higher learning, CSU Dominguez Hills is an integral part of our community's social and economic fabric. While preparing tomorrow's leaders, we continue to partner with individuals, businesses, government agencies, and organizations to help identify, address and resolve the challenges we face as a community, a region, and a vital contributor to our state and nation.
A major educational institution, CSU Dominguez Hills is also a major employer in the region. Together with our impressive alumni, our current students, faculty and staff serve as customers and clients for local businesses and industry. We note only serve the community, we are members who contribute to it.
The Workforce to Fuel Our Industry
The strength of our local economy relies on the strength of our local workforce. CSU Dominguez Hills is playing a proactive role in shaping a competitive, well-qualified workforce prepared to meet critical labor demands. Through our relevant academic programs, we are helping build a pipeline of professionals our community needs most: health care workers, business leaders, educators and early childhood developers. Students come to CSU Dominguez Hills to make a future for themselves. They stay in the South Bay to make a difference for the community.
