Welcome to the Emeritus Faculty Association
The CSUDH Emeritus Faculty Association was established to serve the interests of emeritus faculty and to support the academic life of the university. The Association sponsors a newsletter and a variety of on and off-campus activities to help retired faculty maintain contact with their colleagues and the campus. But the EFA is involved in more than just providing opportunities for pleasant get-togethers with old friends. We work to advance the status and preserve the rights of retired CSU faculty through our affiliation with the statewide Emeritus and Retired Faculty Association. The Association supports scholarships for students at CSU, Dominguez Hills. We maintain a voice for retired faculty on campus through our participation in the Academic Senate, and co-sponsor annual campus faculty honors and service awards. General membership meetings of the EFA are held on campus in the fall and spring. The spring meeting includes a luncheon where the new EFA members and the scholarship winners are introduced. As we continue to look for ways to advance the interests of retired faculty, we'd like to hear from you. Please join in the activities, events and meetings of the Association.
To contact a specific officer, see the Officers link at the top this page. For general questions or information, contact the President, Diane Henschel, at email@example.com.
Regular Membership is open to all members of the General Faculty of California State University, Dominguez Hills who, upon retirement, have been designated as Emeritus. Associate Membership is open to all spouses or surviving spouses of regular members. In addition, Honorary Membership may be extended to individuals who are not eligible for regular or associate membership, with the approval of the regular membership.
The CSUDH Emeritus Faculty Association, through donations from emeritus faculty and their friends, is able to award scholarships to selected academically qualified applicants. The Association currently administers the following scholarships:
The Leo F. and Margaret B. Cain Emeritus Faculty Association Scholarship. Scholarships of $1,000 to $2,500 are awarded annually to students demonstrating academic excellence and career commitment to teaching, academic research, educational administration or other types of public service. Financial need may be considered as part of the selection process. Preference is given to graduate students, but outstanding undergraduate students may apply.
The Dr. Lois W. Chi Emeritus Faculty Association Science Scholarship. A scholarship of $1,000 to $2,000 is awarded annually to allow registered undergraduate students majoring in biology, chemistry, or in a related field in the natural sciences to continue their studies. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or better and demonstrate a need for financial assistance. Graduate students may be considered in the absence of applications from well-qualified undergraduate students.
Applicants for either scholarship must submit a copy of the University Scholarship Application Form, including all attachments (complete transcripts and letters of reference). In addition, students should attach a brief narrative statement detailing their professional goals, academic achievements, financial need, and any other information the applicant would like to provide.
Applications are to be submitted by mail or personal delivery to the Office of the President, CSU Dominquez Hills, attention: Emeritus Association Scholarship Committee. University Scholarship Application Forms are available from the Financial Aids Office, beginning in November each year, and completed applications must be received by March 15. Awards will be announced by the end of the Spring semester and funds will be released at the beginning of the following Fall and Spring semesters.
