COLLEGE OF EDUCATION

 Graduate Education/ School Counseling: Lecturer position. Duties include teaching graduate courses and supervising practica and fieldwork in a school counseling program leading to a Pupil Personnel Services Credential (School Counseling) as well as to the Master of Arts in Education degree. Other duties include program coordination and curriculum development responsibilities; development of internship and fieldwork placements in area schools; recruitment, advisement, and retention of culturally and linguistically diverse students; assessment of candidate performance and participation in university and community service.  Qualifications: Minimum: Master’s degree in counseling or a directly related field of study from an accredited university; possession of a school counseling, school psychology credential, or its equivalent; demonstrated ability to work with ethnically and linguistically diverse campus community members, schools, and community organizations; successful school counseling or related experience; record of successful university teaching; familiarity with ASCA National Model standards; knowledge in some of the following areas: counseling theory and practice, group procedures, individual and group counseling, consultation, leadership, and professional ethics.  Preferred:  Ability to develop and implement strategies for school counseling and guidance programs; administration and supervision of comprehensive K-12 programs; program coordination in school counseling professional preparation programs; involvement with professional organizations; demonstrated ability to direct student research, and ability to effectively partner with schools and community agencies around program development, research and evaluation. Application Procedure:  Applicants should submit a cover letter; curriculum vita; three (3) recent letters of recommendation from professionals who have evaluated the candidate’s work;  evidence of successful graduate level teaching (e.g., sample syllabi, teaching evaluations); and official transcripts from the institution awarding the highest degree. To ensure full consideration, all application materials should be submitted no later than the application review date specified above for each position. Thereafter, review of applications will begin and will continue until a position is filled.  Each successful candidate for a tenure-track faculty position will be required to submit official transcripts from the institution awarding the highest degree.

For an ABD to be a successful candidate for a tenure-track faculty position, the doctoral degree must be completed and verification of the degree must be submitted to the University before the end of the individual’s first probationary year of appointment.

Unless otherwise specified, appointments for tenure-track faculty positions will be effective in late August 2008 with the beginning of the 2008-2009 academic year.  Appointments and starting dates for these positions are subject to the availability of funds.

 Upon appointment all candidates must furnish proof of eligibility to work in the U. S.
