Dr. John J. LaCorte
Founder
John J. LaCorte was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1944 to second generation Italian parents. He moved to Los Angeles in 1963. After receiving his Bachelors degree in Philosophy from Loyola University, he went on to get his Ph.D., also in Philosophy at the University of Southern California. After teaching two years at the University of Wyoming, he began his career at California State University, Dominguez Hills in 1971. He is presently an Emeritus Professor of Philosophy. He has also held the positions of Chair of the Department of Philosophy, Chair of the Academic Senate, Acting Associate Dean of the School of Humanities and Fine Arts.
Dr. LaCorte is presently president of the Italian Historical Society of America, an educational and research organization, and the Better World JL Institute, a philanthropic organization. Both of these organizations have their main offices in New York.
He is a Founding Director of the Institute for the Study of Cultural Diversity and Internationalization at Cal State Dominguez Hills. His involvement with the Institute continues his work in working to develop mutual understanding and admiration among peoples of all ethnic groups.
