Connecting People
A university student union building is similar to the living room of a home. Imagine a living room that is so small and overcrowded that it can meet the needs of only half of the family members. Such a room, instead of building a sense of family togetherness, becomes a source of frustration. Unfortunately, the Loker University Student Union (LUSU) at CSUDH finds itself in exactly that predicament.
The average university student union provides approximately ten square feet of space per student. The LUSU, with a current size of only 60,000 square feet, provides less than five square feet of space per CSUDH student. The result is severe overcrowding and a lack of sufficient student services.
This cramped facility also does not permit the connecting of students with community members -- an important priority of our campus “Communiversity” mission.
