Students Say "Yes!"
In response to the critical needs for student space as campus enrollment continues to grow, the LUSU Board of Directors launched the LUSU Expansion Project. This project will renovate the existing facility and construct an additional 60,000 square feet of space.
As state law forbids the use of public monies for construction of student centers, the campus must seek alternate sources of funding to cover the $34 million cost of the project. As an expression of their overwhelming support, 90% of the CSUDH students who voted in a student fee referendum agreed to double their student fees to help fund the expansion.
The LUSU Expansion Project will provide a unique venue to celebrate the rich history of the campus and the surrounding community. The new LUSU will feature displays of historical photographs and other materials accompanied by descriptive information. This “museum” atmosphere will create an important site where students and community members may connect with the past.
