The following is an instructor-led course held at the Franklin Center in Redondo Beach.
Personal Finance and Retirement
This course is for retired or soon to be retired individuals who want to learn more about personal finance, retirement planning, and wealth preservation. Participating students will receive course materials. A variety of topics will be discussed, including how to: read stock, select appropriate equity and fixed income investments, determine minimum distributions, and recognize various annuity types. We will discuss inflation protection, tax shelters, “green investing”, and the impact current events have on individual wealth.
Participants will receive a notebook with course materials at the first meeting. Early registration is encouraged so that the correct number of notebooks can be assembled for the first class.
Phil Gironda has taught OLLI members for several years and was named a 2012 Five Star Wealth Manager for the second year in a row by Five Star Professional. The 2012 Five Star Wealth Managers are a select group, representing less than 2 percent of the wealth managers in the Orange County area.

How to Negotiate Anything
This course will teach you how to negotiate and resolve conflicts. Whether you want to buy a car or convince a loved one which restaurant to select for dinner, we face daily situations that create conflict as we attempt to communicate with others. As humans, we all have different opinions on what we think is correct. Real-life examples will be used with some role play situations.

Being Healthy, Wealthy and Wise
This interesting and enlightening course will cover a number of topics and provide you with valuable information on 1) how to prevent becoming a victim of consumer scams, 2) how to get the biggest "bang" for your "buck," 3) the most effective ways to resolve your consumer complaints, and 4) your rights and responsibilities as a consumer. The course will be taught by Dr. Linda Smith who has taught Consumer Awareness and Money Management courses and written a self-help book called, Here's What It Takes...to Be Healthy, Wealthy, and Wise.
