Course Description

This course focuses on recognizing asbestos, lead and silica in the workplace, and avoiding, minimizing, controlling or their elimination. Information on general health hazards and methods of control in the workplace will also be presented.

Student Learning Outcomes

At the end of this course the successful student will be able to:

  • Describe the most commonly found heath hazards in the workplace with specific emphasis on asbestos, lead, and silica.
  • Identify sources of exposure and health effects.
  • Illustrate exposure evaluation and engineering and work practice controls.
