Trainer Course in Forklift Safety (OSX 949)
Attendees will review all materials and learn how to teach the course. The instructor manual discusses hands-on training and how to evaluate the performance of your operators. This is the most complete general industry forklift training program ever created. Everything you will need to certify your forklift operators is in one simple but comprehensive program. The program includes:
General Safety -- why safety procedures are necessary, and what can result if operators become distracted.
Pre-Operation -- Classes and types of lift trucks, why pre-operational inspections are important, and critical differences between operating a truck and a car.
Operation -- cores safety rules plus other operating considerations like controls, stopping.starting, unloading and the use of safety belts.
Load Handling -- appropriate steps for picking up, traveling with and placing a load.
Fuel/Battery Maintenance -- safety procedures for handling propane, gas or diesel, and battery-powered lift trucks.
Specialized Units -- safety rules for different types of lift trucks, such as order pickers, walk-along units and low lift.
Trainers should have a basic understanding of forklift operations and procedures. Forklift operating
experience is helpful but not needed for this course. An operational supervisor may be needed to
assist you in training and evaluation of your facility.
