Course Description:

This course will cover fundamental topics that are necessary to understand how an appeal before the Occupational Safety and Health Appeals Board takes place. This course enables safety and health professionals to become familiar with Cal/OSHA’s legal process.

Targeted Audience:

Individuals responsible for overseeing safety in industries such as: Construction, Manufacturing, Agriculture, Maritime and General Industry.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Apply procedures involved in filing an appeal
  2. Initiate and serve a discovery request
  3. Describe the process of presenting settlements to the Administrative Law Judge (ALJ)
  4. Conduct a prima facie analysis of a citation
  5. Recognize the difference between different classifications for citations
