Course Description:

This course presents possible dangerous situations that may occur in the operation of a warehouse and the use of related equipment. Identification and mitigation of hazards is the main focus of the course.

OSHA has identified Public Storage and Warehousing as one of seven industries with a high lost time claim rate. Injuries may occur from forklifts, material handling and lifting, exposure to hazardous substances, and slips, trips and falls. It has been shown that warehouses have become an increasingly hazardous area in which to work. This one day course for warehouse workers will focus on many of the hazards and injuries that are likely to be encountered in warehouse operations.

Targeted Audience:

Individuals responsible for overseeing safety in industries such as: Construction, Manufacturing, Agriculture, Maritime and General Industry.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Describe the hazards of operating a powered industrial truck in warehouse and storage facilities
  2. Identify the hazards associated with material handling in warehouse operations
  3. Identify the purpose of the Hazard Communication (HazCom) Standard
  4. Describe employer and employee responsibilities under HazCom
  5. Identify exit routes and emergency action and fire prevention plan.
