Course Description:

This course covers the role and responsibility of the employer to develop and implement an energy control program, or lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) for the protection of workers while performing service and maintenance activities on machinery and equipment.

Upon course completion the student will have the ability to explain the importance of energy control programs, procedures, training, audits and methods of controlling hazardous energy.

Targeted Audience:

Individuals responsible for overseeing safety in industries such as: Construction, Manufacturing, Agriculture, Maritime and General Industry.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Describe the importance of energy control programs
  2. Identify the methods of energy control
  3. Describe the process of conducting an audit as it pertains to LOTO
  4. Describe basic methods of LOTO.
