Summer Financial Aid

Did you know financial aid is available during the summer term? If you are planning to attend Summer Session and would like to be considered for summer aid, complete the 2012 Summer Aid Request Form and submit it in person to the Financial Aid Office (WH B-260) by July 12, 2012. If you are have questions, contact the Financial Aid Office.
Eligibility For Summer 2012
- Start by completing the 2012 Summer Aid Request Form and submitting it to the Financial Aid Office. The filing deadline for this form is Friday, July 12, 2012.
- Summer 2012 is the last term of our 2011-2012 academic year. Funding is not guaranteed.
- The number of summer units will impact your aid eligibility.
- The actual cost of attendance (fees, books, etc.) will be used to determine eligibility.
- The Federal Direct Loan Program has annual limits on the amount a student can receive during an academic year. A full-time student may have exhausted program eligibility during the fall and spring semesters.
- Failure to meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements for financial aid recipients will impact summer eligibility.
Awarding of Summer Aid for Summer 2012
- To view summer financial aid awards, please visit the Student Center at My.CSUDH.EDU.
- Be sure to have a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file for 2011-2012. Be sure to list your school code as 001141 so that CSUDH will receive your processed information electronically and automatically.
- State University Grants will not be offered this summer to assist with the payment of tuition fees.
- Summer Pell Grant is any amount of remaining eligibility from the current school year 2011-2012.
- Students who have been awarded summer aid sufficient to cover their tuition fees will not be required to pay to prevent their classes from being dropped.
- All offers of summer financial aid are contingent on students completing courses for the current semester. We will review grades at the end of the semester and if you did not meet the requirements of our Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy, you will not be considered for summer funding and wil be required to pay your summer registration fees.
Payment of Summer Registration Fees
- Students who have been awarded summer aid sufficient to cover their tuition fees will not be required to pay to prevent their classes from being dropped.
Financial Aid Checks
Summer 2012 financial aid refund checks will begin to be mailed to your mailing address by Student Financial Services during to the second week of classes. The check will be the balance after payment of any outstanding University obligations (e.g., registration fees, and housing charges (if applicable). If you meet all of the following conditions, a check should be mailed to your mailing address. If you:
- do not have any university holds.
- are not conditionally admitted to CSUDH.
Please Note: If you have decided to borrow a Federal Direct Loan and are not enrolled in a minimum of 6 units (undergraduate) or 4 units (graduate) during Session I, your loan disbursement will be delayed until the start of Session II.
Reminder: Student Financial Services will continue to mail refund checks each week during the term. If you receive a check and then decide to withdraw from the University or drop units, you will be required to repay all or part of the financial aid received. Return the uncashed check to the Financial Aid Office immediately.
