Academic Resources Development Study

The final, comprehensive report of the Faculty Resources Survey is currently being completed and should be available on this website by the end of the term. In the meantime, the links for the survey and its results are available below.

When reading the tables of results, please keep in mind that the response scale was 1-10, with 10 being the highest or optimal score. The median response (the number that evenly splits the distribution in half) is 5.5; those means that are above the median are thus relatively high and those below the median are relatively low.

You will note that 31 of the Faculty Satisfaction items means are above the 5.5 median and 55 of the items are below the median. For the Institutional Practices item means, 4 are above the median and 38 are below the medium.

The underlying dimensions of the faculty responses were obtained through factor analysis. The mean ratings on these dimensions (factors) give the clearest picture of faculty satisfaction and faculty perceptions of institutional practices at CSUDH. Table 4 under the Summary of Factors provides a comprehensive overview of the findings.

If we believe that there is a relationship between institutional practices and faculty satisfaction, then we--faculty and administrators together--must explore ways to improve the institutional environment at CSUDH.
