Purpose
and Function of the Office of
Associate
Vice President for Academic Planning and Resource Management
The purpose of the office of the Associate Vice President
for Academic Planning and Resource Management is to assist in the ongoing
development and operation of academic programs that will provide an effective
teaching/learning environment with special attention to the fiscal, facility,
and technological needs.
Specifically, this is accomplished by:
- conducting
the academic planning process in such a way as to maximize the effectiveness
of the faculty and to meet the needs of the student population served by the
university in a way consistent with the mission and goals of the university.
- scheduling
classes in such a way as to maximize the learning opportunities for students
while recognizing other influences on the schedule such as faculty
availability and the availability of physical facilities and equipment.
- insuring
that resource allocations are based on a process that integrates planning,
the determination of program viability, and the assessment of outcomes with
the requests for resources.
- assisting
in the planning of instructional technology that supports both on-campus
instruction and distance learning.
- assisting
the instructional units that report to Academic Affairs in managing their
budgets consistent with established goals and objectives and in a
fiscally-responsible manner.
- assisting
in the planning and operation of instructional facilities so that they
effectively support the instructional program.
- assisting
in securing and maintaining specialized accreditation in the disciplines for
which such accreditation is available.
