New Employee Orientation - President's Letter
Welcome to our California State University Dominguez (CSUDH) Hills family! We are extremely pleased that you have become an employee and team member of one of the finest campuses in the CSU system. Our mission is to provide students with access to a wide range of educational programs and opportunities that will provide them with a well rounded educational experience. Our graduates will learn skills that will enable them to become productive members and leaders in their communities. Our number one job is to assist students in being successful during their tenure at Dominguez Hills. This includes critical tasks such as helping them enroll, providing guidance in course selection, keeping them safe. It also includes small but important tasks such as helping them find their classrooms or a computer laboratory.
CSUDH is facing many challenges and opportunities. As other CSU campuses in our geographical area reach maximum capacity, we have an opportunity to increase our enrollment which in turn allows us to grow and offer more programs to our students. Our campus has a unique opportunity to build more classrooms and science laboratories as enrollment increases.
As a team member of the University, I am asking for your help. To attract and retain students and talented employees, we must offer them quality customer service. Applicants for enrollment and jobs must be convinced that the University cares about them and hold them in high esteem. This requires our employees to answer questions promptly and accurately, return phone calls and e-mails quickly, meet with people who need help and take the time from our busy schedules to stop and assist people when they need assistance.
We in turn pledge to offer you the finest working environment and compensation that we can afford. Our health benefits are second to none and we are one of few remaining enterprises, public or private, that stills offers a traditional retirement program. If you decide to make a career (at least five years of service and age 50) with the CSU, we will pay for most of your health benefits for the rest of your life. We offer exciting new training programs that will improve your skills and help position you for possible future promotions.
