  • Any change will take effect January 1, 2010

Health Plan Changes for 2010
BLUE SHIELD OF CALIFORNIA

  • The mail service co-payment will be applied to maintenance drugs for each subsequent 30-day supply for drugs at a participating pharmacy after 3 months. For diabetic supplies and smoking cessation therapy drugs, the non-Formulary co-payment may also apply.
    • Monthly premium rates will decrease

KAISER PERMANENTE         

  • Chiropractic services are eliminated, but will have discounts up to 25% off
  • Co-payments will increase for 31-100 day supply of drugs through mail order(from $5 to $10 generic and $15 to $30 brand name)
    • Monthly premium rates will increase

PERS CARE/CHOICE/SELECT

  • Medically necessary anesthesia will be covered during colonoscopy screening (subject to prior authorization, deductibles, and co-payments)
  • PERS CARE monthly premium rates will increase
  • PERS Choice monthly premium rates will decrease

Don’t forget to Enroll/Re-Enroll in HCRA/DCRA Plans 

  • The Health and Dependent Care Reimbursement plans require re-enrollment every year, even if there is no change in the contribution amount.
  • Current contributions will be discontinued on January 1, 2010

New Requirements for Economic Dependent Information

  • Beginning 2010, each economic dependent is required to recertify annually.  You will receive instruction from CalPERS when it is time for recertification.  Failure to comply will result in cancellation of health coverage for the dependent(s).
