SEPTEMBER 11, 2000 - California
State University, Dominguez Hills has
made significant advances in the discussions with Anschutz L.A. Soccer
(ALAS) regarding the possibility of entering into a public/private
partnership for the development and operation of a National Training
Center/Sports Complex (Complex).
The vision for the Complex is that it will feature
state-of-the-art venues that will serve as a primary training center for
top amateur and professional athletes in soccer, tennis, track and
field, cycling, basketball, volleyball, and women’s field hockey.
At
their September 19/20 meeting, the CSU Board of Trustees will consider
the economic framework proposed for this development.
In May 2000, Trustees reviewed and approved the concept of this
public/private partnership to design, finance, and construct the
facilities and develop the soccer academy and stadium at California
State University, Dominguez Hills and authorize the project to proceed
with the understanding that additional information will be presented to
the Board at key points in the process.
The
Trustee agenda items for May and
September
can be accessed below as well as a site plan,
Notice
of Preparation of an Environmental Impact Report, and project specifications.
The
campus recently selected a consultant to begin Environmental Impact
Report (EIR) process.
This website will be updated as this potential partnership is
better defined.
