CARSON, Calif.--For the first time in school
history, Cal State Dominguez Hills fans can enjoy regular season
broadcasts of Toros basketball brought live via the Internet by
Waldcast Radio Sports (WRS).
Beginning in January, 16 live webcasts of both
men's and women's hoops action will be aired locally and around
the world on sportsjuice.com.
Longtime southland broadcaster Ronnie Wald will provide
play-by-play as well as produce the webcasts on Waldcast Radio
Sports.
Wald, who celebrates his 23rd year in local
sports broadcasting next year, is the former voice of Cal State
Fullerton, Pepperdine, Cal State Northridge, San Diego State and
Cal State San Bernardino athletics. In his career, he has
broadcasted NCAA Tournaments, Division II College World Series,
the Western Athletic Conference playoffs, Big West Tournaments,
state community college championships, and most recently, the CIF
playoffs and finals from both Blair Field in Long Beach and Edison
Field in Anaheim in 2003.
Wald, a graduate of Cal State Northridge, is a
20-year member of the American Sportscasters Association and can
be found in laradio.com's
prestigious listing of all local radio personalities over the past
50 years.
WRS will enable Toro fans, families and alums
from across the nation and around the globe to tune in live via
the internet and follow CSUDH basketball throughout the season.
"We are truly excited to finally
be able to broadcast our basketball games," says Patrick
Guillen, CSUDH Sports Information Director. "I have known of
Ronnie for several years, and to be able to secure someone of his
talent and experience will be great for Cal State Dominguez Hills
basketball."
Fittingly, Wald broadcasted the last local
radio airing in the Torodome as a visiting CCAA broadcaster on
KGIL in 1984.
Says Wald, "I'm delighted to be
associated with the Toros. Far too long South Bay fans have been
without a local Toro broadcast. I'm looking forward to a memorable
season."
