Lamel has been the Assistant Athletics Director / Facilities since the 2000 school year. As the Assistant Athletics Director / Facilities, he is responsible for all CSUDH athletics facilities, and serves as the liaison between CSUDH and the Home Depot Center, chair for the annual Toros Scholarship Golf Classic, advisor for the athletics department Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), and has taught an elective Sports Psychology course for the past 4 semesters, in addition to contributing towards the departments fundraising and marketing efforts. As an administrator, Lamel also oversees the track and field / cross-country programs, as well as baseball and women's basketball. Before transitioning into his current role, he was a men's basketball assistant coach with CSUDH from 1997 thru 2000, helping guide the Toros to a 2nd-place conference tie in 1997-98. Prior to his arrival to the Carson campus, Lamel worked for various non-profit Social Service agencies. He began his work with a treatment Foster Care program in Las Vegas, Nevada (SAFY - Specialized Alternatives for Families and Youth) and served as supervisor for a brief time at the Foundation for the Junior Blind in the South Los Angeles area. Lamel enjoyed a successful collegiate basketball career at West Valley Community College in Saratoga, CA, before transferring to complete his career at Carroll College in Helena, MT. Harris was the defensive stopper on a Fighting Saints team that won their conference during the 1991-92 campaign. Upon completing his playing career, Harris stayed on as the graduate assistant coach for the Fighting Saints during the 1993-94 season. Harris earned his masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from CSUDH in 1999, after earning his bachelors degree in Social Work from Carroll College in 1994. Lamel has two children, Jalyn and Miles, and lives in Long Beach. |
