The objective of the Toro Scholarship
Association is to provide financial support to the Athletics
Department scholarship program. Supporting the Association not
only enables student-athletes to pursue their sports but also to
earn a college degree.
Winning on the field, or in the arena, is
important, but more meaningful to a young persons overall
success is achieving in the classroom . The Toro Scholarship
Association believes that education is the key to a
student-athletes ultimate success, ensuring student-athlete
results by supporting the Five Cs Philosophy
Classroom Success, Community Involvement, Competitive Excellence,
Character Development and Career Planning.
The Toro Athletics Department is committed to
the idea of accomplished and successful student-athletes. Our
first commitment in attempting to meet this goal is to ensure that
our student-athletes succeed academically. To this end, we provide
a variety of academic, social, and personal counseling plus
services through our Center for Learning and Academic Support
Services (CLASS). By utilizing the CLASS Center our
student-athletes are able to receive such help as educational
program planning, tutoring and career placement.
Through the Community Involvement
Program, CSUDH student-athletes, coaches, and administrators
regularly volunteer their time in a strong, effective and highly
recognized program of community involvement. The Student-Athlete
Advisory Board, governed and directed completely by our
student-athletes, is a driving force behind our endeavors. On an
average, Toro players, coaches and staff participate in over 150
community or professional events proudly representing the
University and Toro Athletics each year.
