No. 1 Ranked Toros Hold On for 1-0 Shutout over Western Washington

CARSON, Calif.-Cal State Dominguez Hills midfielder Eddie Gonzalez-Pinto (North Torrance HS) scored the game-winning goal for the second time this week in leading the Toros to a 1-0 non-conference win over Western Washington today at Toro Field.

Pinto's goal came at 14:21 off of a corner kick from senior midfielder Sean Lockhart (Palm Springs HS). Freshman defender Kevin Sosa touched the ball to Pinto who tapped it into the near post for all the scoring the Toros would need on the day. Junior forward Steve Camp (Del Oro HS) had a great scoring opportunity for CSUDH, but his shot from the right side glanced off the far goal post midway through the second period.

Senior goalie Luis Morales (Banning HS) remains perfect in a Toros uniform. He is now 2-0 this year after making five saves in goal today and is now 13-0-0 in a CSUDH uniform. Wade Ambrose suffered the loss in goal for the Vikings while making three saves in the net.

Cal State Dominguez Hills, ranked No. 1 in the preseason NSCAA polls, improves to 2-0 while Western Washington drops to 0-3. CSUDH is back in action this Saturday when they host No. 13-ranked Seattle Pacific University beginning at 4:00 pm.
