Complete Box Score

CARSON, Calif.-Senior midfielder Sean Lockhart (Palm Springs HS) tallied two goals to lead the No. 1-ranked Toros and defending national champions to a 3-0 California Collegiate Athletic Association win over Cal State Bakersfield today at Toro Field. With the victory, the Toros have now won 18 games in a row and extends the Toros nation-best unbeaten streak to 27 games.

Lockhart punched in his first goal at 38:49 after Scott White (La Habra HS) stripped a CSUB defender. White dribbled then passed off to Lockhart on the far side of the post who knocked his shot to the upper near post for a 1-0 lead.

The score remained 1-0 until the second half when CSUDH's Gabriel Valencia (Salesian HS) hit a close-range shot that Bakersfield goalie Josh Wicks (Cajon HS) made a great one-on-one save. But Lockhart was there to clean up the rebound, knocking the ball to the back of the net giving CSUDH a 2-0 lead.

Rick Cobb (Warren HS) closed out the scoring on the day at the 73:40 minute mark when he intercepted a clearing attempt by Wicks who came off his line. Cobb then gathered the ball and chipped a shot from 30-yards out into an empty net. CSUB's best scoring chance came late when sophomore forward Kyle Gookins (Quartz Hill HS) hit the cross bar with three minutes remaining.

In the first half the Toros were able to withstand the 'Runner attack that held a 5-3 shot advantage in the first half. But CSUDH goalie Luis Morales (Banning HS), who extended his all-time record to a perfect 16-0-0 in a Toros uniform, made two nice saves to keep Bakersfield scoreless. The shutout is Morales' third this season.

Cal State Dominguez Hills, ranked No. 1 in the first NSCAA regular season polls released earlier this week, improve to 5-0 and 2-0 in CCAA play, while Cal State Bakersfield drops to 2-4 and 0-2 in league action.

CSUDH is back in action Wednesday when they travel for their first road game of the year to CSU Los Angeles. First kick is set for 4:00 pm. For Cal State Bakersfield contines its school record 8-game, 27-day road trip at Cal State Stanislaus on Tuesday beginning at 4:00 pm.
