WOMEN HEAD SOUTH TO SAN DIEGO
The Cal State Dominguez Hills women's cross country team will
gear up for their third meet of the season as they travel south to
San Diego to compete in the Aztec Invitation held at Balboa Park
in San Diego.
HEAD COACH DEANN SCHLOBOHM
Coach Schlobohm begins her fifth season as head coach of the
CS Dominguez Hills Cross Country team. Last season, the Toros
finished seventh in the CCAA and took an eleventh place finish at
the NCAA Division II Regional Championships. Scholbohm started the
Toros Cross Country program from scratch in 1997.
TOROS COMPETE IN SECOND MEET OF SEASON
The Cal State Dominguez Hills cross country team took to the
5,000 m course this weekend at the UC Irvine Invitational at
Central Park in Huntington Beach. The Toros finished tied for 12th
place with 346 points. As like last week, the Toros were one of
the fastest DII squads to cross the finish line. The host
Anteaters took the race with a score of 61. Arizona State,
Northern Arizona, CS Northridge, UCLA "B", Cal Poly SLO,
S. Utah, New Mexico State, Concordia, UC San Diego, USC "B",
UC Riverside, CS Dominguez Hills, CS San Marcos, UNLV, Vanguard,
CS Bakersfield and the Master's College rounded out the pool.
D'AMICO LEADS THE SQUAD, AGAIN
In the beginning of her senior season with the Toros, Cambria
D'Amico (North Torrance HS) has stepped up to lead the squad. At
the CSF Jammin' Invitational two weeks ago, D'Amico led the Toros
with a 36th place finish and a time of 19:14.8. This past weekend
she clocked a time of 19:41.4 for a 38th place finish. Once again,
she beat out runners from top DI programs, including UNLV and CS
Northridge.
HERNANDEZ BACK IN THE PACK
Sophomore stand-out Aracne Hernandez (Bellflower HS) was back
in the pack this weekend at the UC irvine Invitational. Hernandez
sat out last week's competition due to a minor injury. The
sophomore finished the 5,000 meter course with a time of 21:21.2.
