CARSON, Calif.-Junior forward Gabriel Valencia
(Salesian HS) knocked in his second game-winning goal in as many
games, to lead No. 1-ranked Cal State Dominguez Hills to a 2-0
California Collegiate Athletic Association victory today over Cal
State San Bernardino at Toro Field. The victory is now a
nation-best 20th straight for the Toros dating back to last
season.
The game was scoreless until the 28:48-minute
mark when Valencia took a Scott White (Sonora HS) pass and chipped
his shot over the CSUSB goalkeeper, who was off his line, from
20-yards out giving the Toros a 1-0 lead.
Senior midfielder Sean Lockhart (Palm Springs
HS) gave CSUDH a 2-0 lead when he registered his sixth goal of the
year. At the 59:41-minute mark, Lockhart collected a loose ball
from the left flank and curled in a line drive shot to the upper
far post from 20-yards out, just past the outstretched arms of
Coyote goalie Joseph Kulm.
The Toros defense clamped down and held off a
couple Coyote scoring chances down the stretch. Senior goalie Luis
Morales (Banning HS) earned the shutout with two saves in the
game. He is now 8-0 on the season and 19-0-0 in a CSUDH uniform.
CS San Bernardino goalkeeper Joseph Kulm took the loss while
