LA JOLLA, Calif.--The Toros three game winning
streak against UC San Diego was snapped today after dropping a 3-0
decision to the No.6-ranked Tritons in California Collegiate
Athletic Association action. Megan Mendoza scored a hat trick for
the host Tritons sending CSUDH to their second consecutive loss.
Both squads battled to a scoreless first half
before UCSD's Mendoza connected on her first score at 53:22 on a
header from a corner kick. Mendoza then made it 2-0 at the
64:31-minute mark when she took a cross from Kristin Jones and
knocked the ball to the far post. Mendoza then completed the hat
trick at 86:59 when she sent a ball from the right flank to the
far post from 20-yards out accounting for the final margin.
Senior Toros goalie Heather Williams (Canyon
HS), who saved a penalty shot in the 56th minute, suffered her
first loss of the year making five saves in goal. In the game,
UCSD outshot the Toros 16-12.
Cal State Dominguez Hills' record now stands at
7-2-1 overall and 3-2-1 in league play. CSUDH is back in action on
Monday travelling to CCAA foe Grand Canyon University in Phoenix.
