Cal State Dominguez Hills was in action this
weekend at the Staford Invitational in Palo Alto. The Toros took a
22nd place finish at the meet whose participants included top
Division I programs such as Stanford, UC Irvine, BYU and Arkansas.
Senior Cambria D'Amico was the first Toro to
cross the finish line. The Torrance native has been the top
finisher for the Toros in every meet this season. She finished in
69th place with a time of 23:15 on the 6,000 meter course, the
longest course that the Toros have taken to all season.
Sophomore Aracne Hernandez clocked in at 24:16,
junior Victoria Flores stopped watches at 24:38, with junior Wendy
Vallejo right behind Flores with a time of 24:57. Two freshman
runner rounded out the CSUDH pack, Yosie Castillo crossed the line
at 25:15, with Pia Fosling checking in at 25:33.
The meet was won by Arkansas's Andriena Byrd
who broke the tape at 20:49. The host Cardinal won the team meet,
with five runner finishing in the top ten.
The Toros return to action on October 13 when
they travel to UC San Diego to compete in the UCSD Triton
Invitational.
