October 5, 2001

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.--Cal State Dominguez Hills was unable to hold on to a 3-2 lead with less than four minutes left in regulation, as San Francisco State and the Toros battled to a 3-3 double overtime draw today in CCAA action.

Cal State Dominguez Hills, having had their 32-game unbeaten streak and 23-game win streak snapped last Friday, was looking to begin another streak today against San Francisco State. After a scoreless first half, senior midfielder Sean Lockhart (Palm Springs HS) got the Toros on the board first scoring at the 45:23-minute mark off an assist from Rick Cobb (Warren HS).

SFSU tied the game 23 minutes later when Omar Parra scored the first of his two goals in the game at 68:35 making it 1-1. Sophomore midfielder Eddie Gonzales-Pinto (N. Torrance HS) gave CSUDH a 2-1 lead at 75:28 off an assist from Gabriel Valencia (Salesian HS).

But the Toros would see the Gators nip at the lead once again. Omar Parra tallied his second goal at the 78:25-minute mark to equalize the game once again for San Francisco State making it 2-2.

CSUDH (10-1-1, 7-0-1 CCAA) took a 3-2 lead with less than five minutes remaining in the game. Cobb assisted on his second score when he fed Valencia at 85:23. However, the Toros couldn't hang on as Bryn Heath scored the third equalizing goal of the day

for the Gators off a free kick outside the box sending the contest into overtime 3-3.

Both defenses were able to shutout the opposition in both extra periods battling to a hard-fought tie. San Francisco State (5-6-1, 3-3-1 CCAA) out-shot the Toros in the game 26-24.

The Toros will be back in CCAA action on Sunday taking on Sonoma State in Rohnert Park. Kick-off is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
