SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.--Cal State Dominguez
Hills won its third consecutive game with a 2-0 shutout over San
Francisco State today at Gator Field.
The Toros took an early 1-0 lead at 11:27 when
Tanya Wilson (Palm Springs HS) pressured the Gator goalie to
misplay the ball to the right flank. CSUDH freshman midfielder
Kristen Walsh (Mayfair HS) was there to cross her pass into the
box to forward Shannon Donnelly (LB Poly HS) who volleyed her shot
into the back of the net for the game-winner.
Cal State Dominguez Hills made it 2-0 off a
penalty kick from Dianne Garza (Temple City HS) to give them
breathing room. Garza was pulled down inside the box on a
breakaway to set up her 11th goal of the year.
CSUDH (10-2-1, 5-2-1 CCAA), ranked No. 19 in
the latest NSCAA polls, out-shot SFSU (8-3-1, 3-3-1 CCAA) 21-12.
Senior Toros goalie Heather Williams (Canyon HS) earned her sixth
win and third shutout of the year with five saves today in goal.
The Toros are back in CCAA action on Sunday
travelling to Rohnert Park to take on Sonoma State. First kick is
set for 3:00 p.m. |
