Dianne Garza has been named the Kappa
California Collegiate Athletic Association Women's Soccer Player
of the Week for Oct. 1-7 as announced by the conference office in
Walnut Creek, CA.
Garza, a junior forward from Temple City,
scored two goals last week, including a sudden-death game-winner,
to lead the No. 13 ranked Toros to a pair of wins at San Francisco
State and Sonoma State. The wins improved CSUDH to 6-2-1 in league
play and 11-2-1 overall.
Garza scored the Golden Goal in a 2-1 overtime
win at Sonoma, as she took a long pass and scored from 18-yards
out. Two days earlier, Garza scored on a penalty kick as the Toros
defeated North Division leader San Francisco State, 2-0. She used
her speed to beat the SFSU defense and was taken down in the
penalty box to earn the opportunity.
Garza leads the CCAA in scoring with 31 points
on the year with 12 goals seven assists.
