Cal State Dominguez Hills finished in 11th
place at the NCAA Division II West Regionals, held Saturday on the
campus of Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington.
The Toros finished 11th out of 21 teams, with a score of 263.
CSUDH had its top five runners finish in the
top 80, out of 135 runners, competiting on the 6,000 meter course.
The meet was won by UC Davis, who had five runners finish in the
top 20.
Senior Cambria D'Amico, wrapping up her final
season, had a strong showing, placing 11th, with a time of 24:28.
D'Amico, who earned all-CCAA honors last month,was named to the
all-region team with her performance today. The senior has been
the top finisher for the Toros in every meet this season.
Junior Aracne Hernandez had one of her
strongest meets of the season today. Hernandez took a 29th place
finish with a time of 23:29.
The next Toros runner to cross the line was
freshman Yosie Castillo. Castillo took a 69th place finish with a
time of 24:28. Following Castillo in 75th place was junior Wendy
Vallejo. Vallejo stopped watches at 24:37. Junior Victoria Flores
finished five places behind Vallejo with a time of 24:41. Junior
Sherron Rhetta rounded out the Toros pack with a time of 24:49. |
