Championship Bracket (PDF format)

CARSON, Calif.-The Cal State Dominguez Hills women's soccer team was selected to participate in the 2001 NCAA II Women's Soccer Championship Playoffs as announced by the NCAA. The Toros, who are seeded No. 3 in the region will travel to No. 2 seed Cal Poly Pomona on Wednesday night to take on the Broncos.

After a one year hiatus, CSUDH is looking forward to making their mark once again on the national scene. "It's nice to be back in the NCAA's," states Toros head coach Karen Hanks. "The team deserves it. They have worked very hard to get here." Cal State Dominguez Hills won the CCAA Central Division title with a 10-3-1 league record. They are currently ranked No. 18 in the latest NSCAA polls with a 15-4-1 overall mark.

Wednesday's game will be the third time the Toros and Broncos have squared off this season. Hopefully the third time, as they say, will be the charm. Earlier this year CSUDH and Pomona tied in overtime 1-1 in Carson. Then last Friday, November 2 in the CCAA Championship Tournament semifinals, Pomona shutout the Toros 2-0.

The Broncos enter the game with a 15-3-2 record and are ranked No. 9 in the NSCAA polls.

"We've made a couple of adjustments," states Hanks. "But the key for us as always is to finish our chances."

The winner of Wednesday's game will travel to No. 1 seed UC San Diego on Saturday night for the Far West Regional Championship. Game time is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
