IRVINE, Calif.--Cal State Dominguez Hills
dropped their seventh straight game tonight as Concordia
University ran away in the second half and cruised to a 89-76 win
in non-conference action.
CSUDH (1-8) led by as many as 10 points in the
first half and went into the break with a 47-43 lead. The Toros
led by as many as seven points twice in the second half, but
Concordia outscored the Toros 46-29 in the second period to go on
for the win.
Concordia (8-5) made 30 of their points from
the free throw line and went to the charity stripe 42 times in the
game. CSUDH on the other hand, was 13-19 from the free throw line.
The Toros were led in the losing cause by
senior point guard Jacob Poole with 19 points. Junior forward
Michael Crawford, in only his third game in a CSUDH uniform,
chipped in with 13 points and a game-high nine rebounds before he
fouled out with less than four minutes remaining. Senior center
Kevin Blunt registered double figures scoring 12 points on 6-8
shooting from the floor. Blunt also, along with two others, fouled
out in the second half.
On the night, CSUDH shot nearly 49% from the
field (31-64) and out-rebounded the Eagles 44-33. However, the
Toros were called for 32 total fouls while CU was whistled for
only 17.
The Toros are back in CCAA action on Friday,
January 4 when they host Grand Canyon University. First tip is set
for 7:30 p.m.
