TURLOCK - Cal State Stanislaus coach Mike
Terpstra got a career game out of Jamal O'Quinn Friday night.
O'Quinn scored a career-high 27 points as the Warriors held on to
beat a very offense-sufficient Cal State Dominguez Hills team,
83-78, in the Warrior Arena.
He had 15 of his points in the second half to
help the team's top-scorer Jeff Davenport. Davenport finished with
a game-high 28 points. He also had five assists and three steals
in 40 minutes of play.
Friday night the Warriors shot 56.3 percent --
it was by far the best shooting night of the season. CSU
Stanislaus shot 65.2 percent in the first half and took a
five-point, 40-35, halftime lead.
The Toros, however, never let-up against the
Warriors. Dominguez Hills was down by as much as 13 points halfway
through the second half, but the Toros pulled within five less
than five minutes later on a three-pointer by Justin Goree.
Michael Crawford's bucket with 55 seconds left
to play pulled the Toros within three, but the Warriors were able
to finish off the game with an O'Quinn basketball and two free
throws from both Ira Taylor and O'Quinn.
Cal State Dominguez Hills (3-11 overall, 2-7
CCAA) was lead by Kevin Blunt's 19 points. Earl Rowland and
Michael Crawford each added 14 points to the totals.
The Toros continue their road swing with a
Saturday night CCAA contest at Cal State Bakersfield.
