For the second consecutive week, Jacob Poole
has been named the Rawlings California Collegiate Athletic
Association Men's Basketball Player of the Week as announced by
the league office today for the week of Jan. 28 - Feb. 3.
Poole, a 5-9 senior from San Diego, earned the
award after leading the Toros to their third and fourth straight
win with a precedent-setting weekend. He scored a game-high 30
points on 61 percent shooting and added 3 rebounds and 2 assists
to lead the Toros to a 76-70 win over UC Davis. Poole sparked a
16-0 second-half run with six points that erased a four-point
deficit and the Toros went on to defeat UCD for the first time in
the 12-game series' history dating back to 1984.
The following night, Poole again scored a
game-high 30 points to lead CSUDH to a thrilling 89-86 overtime
win over Chico State. The back-to-back 30-point performances was a
first-ever accomplishment for a Cal State Dominguez Hills player.
Poole added a game-high 9 assists, 6 rebounds and 4 steals. For
the week, he averaged 30 points on 49 percent shooting overall
(22-45) and 87 percent free throw shooting (13-15). Poole also
averaged 5.5 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals.
