CARSON, Calif.-Kevin Blunt and Jacob Poole led
a resurgent Cal State Dominguez Hills men's basketball team to one
of the best conference records in the second half of the season
(8-3) and were rewarded for their effort's this week as they both
were named to the All-CCAA squads. The Toros finished the season
with a 12-15 overall record and an 11-11 mark in CCAA play.
Blunt, a 6-7 senior center from San Bernardino,
CA, was named to the First Team All-CCAA roster averaging 17.6 ppg
and 8.5 rpg. His scoring average placed him fifth among other
scorer's in the conference while his rebounding mark put him
third. Blunt was one of the most skilled and dominant big men in
the league registering nine double-doubles on the year. His .525
field-goal percentage led the entire conference. Blunt earned
Rawling's/CCAA Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 11-17.
Poole, a 5-9 senior guard from San Diego, CA,
came on strong in the second half and led the team in scoring
pouring in 19.5 ppg which ranked him third in the CCAA. Poole led
the league in assists dishing out 2.5 apg and was second in the
conference in steals averaging 2.3 per game. He also ranked second
in the CCAA at the free throw line making .826 of his shots. Poole
was named the Rawling's/CCAA Player of the Week two week's in a
row (Jan. 21 - Feb. 3) at one point this season.
