CARSON, Calif.- Cal State Dominguez Hills head
women's basketball coach Van Girard has announced that Tameka Blue
and DeLaney Turner have signed National Letters of Intent to play
with the Toros in the 2002-03 season.
Blue is a 5-7 point guard out of Santa Cruz
High School. While at SCHS, Blue averaged 15 points per game on
her way to receiving all-league and all-region accolades. Coach
Girard anticipates that Blue will have an immediate impact on the
Toros offense.
"Tameka is an extraordinary
athlete. She has great court vision, ability to see the floor, and
is also a great scoring threat for us. She is going to come in and
challenge for a starting position."
Turner will join the CSUDH program after two
successful seasons at Santa Barbara City College. The 6-1 post
player scored 12 points per game and pulled down seven boards per
game last season for the Vaqueros.
"DeLaney is a blue-collar type
post player. She is a strong defender and a solid rebounder,"
says Coach Girard of Turner.
Blue and Turner join two other signees, Teresa
Cooper and Jessica Brown, who signed with the Toros during the
early signing period last fall.
