The Cal State Dominguez Hills cross country
team kicked off the 2002 season, by competing in the UC Irvine
Invitational on Saturday at Central Park in Huntington Beach, CA.
The Toros were among many top Division I,
Division II and NAIA programs to compete in the 5K run. The top
finisher for CSUDH was Victoria Flores, who clocked in with a time
of 21:09.2, placing her 64th in the 114 athlete field. Aracne
Hernandez was not far behind Flores, crossing the line at 21:27.3.
The final two runners for the Toros, Isha
Shepard and Kendria Spratt, finished in the 107 and 108 slots with
times of 26:04.1 and 26:06.7. New Mexico State's Rachel Cueller
took the title, breaking the tape at 18:23.1.
Next up for the Toros is the Fresno State
Invitational on Sept. 14.
