CARSON, Calif.— Eduardo Serrano knocked in his third game-winning goal of the year in the first half to propel Cal State Dominguez Hills to a 2-0 victory over visiting Cal State Stanislaus today at Toro Field. It was the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) opener for both squads today.

Sophomore forward Michael Jimenez (Bishop Montgomery HS) set up Serrano’s goal perfectly to give the Toros a 1-0 lead. Jimenez dribbled along the end line and passed inside the box to Serrano who one-timed his shot past Warrior keeper Matt Buckman at 41:26.

The score remained 1-0 until the 77th minute when senior all-america forward Gabriel Valencia (Salesian HS) crossed a beautiful arching pass to forward Scott White (Sonora HS) who leaped high and headed his shot to the far post for the 2-0 margin.

Toros goalie Javier Barragan (LB Jordan HS) made three saves to earn his second shutout of the year. Buckman suffered the loss while making five saves in goal.

CSUDH, ranked No. 3 in this week’s NSCAA poll, remain unbeaten with a 4-0-1 record and are 1-0-0 in CCAA play. Cal State Stanislaus drops to 2-2-0 overall and 0-1-0 in league action.
