CARSON, Calif.- The Cal State Dominguez Hills women's soccer team put together a solid all-around performance scoring twice in each half to go on for a 4-0 victory over Grand Canyon in California Collegiate Athletic Association action today at Toro Field.

CSUDH (6-2-2, 4-1-1 CCAA) got what turned out to be the game-winner early from Sheila Cook (W. Torrance HS) in the 7th minute. After a mad scramble in front of the Canyon goal off a corner kick, Cook collected a rebound and hit her shot to the near post for a 1-0 lead.

Erin Fieger (Mira Costa HS) made it 2-0 before intermission with her first goal of the season. At 41:14, Fieger headed in a beautiful corner kick from Norma Gutierrez (Santa Clara HS) past the diving Grand Canyon goalie Jolene Gagnon.

In the second half, Kim Acino (N. Torrance HS) made it 3-0 at 52:49 when she took a cross from Giermaine Phillippe (Bonita HS) and headed her shot to the far post just past the outstretched hands of Gagnon. Lecia Davis (N. Torrance HS) then closed out the scoring at 78:01 on a breakaway. Davis accepted a pass from Dianne Garza (Temple City HS) and beat the keeper one-on-one, knocking her shot to the back of the net for the 4-0 final.

CSUDH's defense and goalie Alba Garcia (Don Lugo HS) would notch their seventh shutout of the season. Garcia earned the win with two saves in goal. Gagnon suffered the loss while making eight saves in the match. In the game, CSUDH outshot Grand Canyon (2-6-1, 1-5-0 CCAA) 19-2.

Cal State Dominguez Hills is back in CCAA action this Sunday, September 29 hosting defending national champion UC San Diego. Kick-off is scheduled for 3 PM.
