CARSON, Calif.- On September 25th 2002, fifteen members of the 2002-2003 Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball program headed to nearby Broadacres Elementary School to conduct a community service day. The players and coaches visited each of Broadacres' 15 classrooms and spent some time with the students.

The student-athletes interacted with the children, aided them with their class and homework, and were involved in short question-answer sessions with the eager students. The athletes discussed how they got started in basketball and how they stayed with it into the collegiate level. The team also stressed the importance of education.

It wasn't just the students and staff at Broadacres that enjoyed this special day with the Toros.

"It was fun. The kids were really excited to have us there." says freshman Toro Teresa Cooper.

The team will be heading back to the school on October 9th for another community service day.
