CARSON, Calif.- Cal State Dominguez Hills
defender Nathan Reeves (Lakewood HS) has been named the Brine
California Collegiate Athletic Association Men's Soccer Player of
the Week for the week of October 7-13. The honor marks the first
for a defender this year with the exception of goalkeeper.
Reeves, a sophomore from Lakewood, was a
defensive slalwart whose intensity helped the 7th-ranked Toros
rebound from an upset loss at Western Washington and defeat CCAA
rivals Sonoma State and San Francisco State last week.
Following the 2-1 loss at WWU, CSUDH shut out
Sonoma, ranked 2nd in the Far West Region at the time. Reeves had
numerous steals and slide tackles, and had a tremendous
man-marking game in leading the Toros to the 2-0 win. He won every
50/50 ball that came his way.
Reeves then led the back line defense that
stymied a physical San Francisco State team, 1-0, again with a
solid defensive performance. Reeves won all 50/50 balls his way
despite facing larger opposing players.
The victories preserved the Toros top ranking
in the Far West Region.
