Team |
Serrano, who played his first season in a Toro
uniform this year after transferring from Humboldt State, is the
seventh All-America selection for CSUDH over the past three years
and the tenth coached by Joe Flanagan during his nine-year tenure
on the Carson campus.
"Eduardo certainly deserved to be
honored this year," said Flanagan. "He not only led us
on the field in scoring, but was a leader off the field as well.
Eduardo continues the proud tradition of top-notch players we like
to attract to our program. There is no doubt in my mind that he
will come back and enjoy an even better senior season next year."
The All-America honor is his first of Serrano's
career. He has garnered NCAA II Far West Region honors three
times, including First Team laurels this year and in 2001.
Serrano led Cal State Dominguez Hills in
scoring with 33 points on 15 goals and 3 assists. The point total
puts him in a tie for ninth in the all-time charts for points in a
season at CSUDH. His goal total also ranks him in a tie for
seventh on the all-time list.
The 6-1 striker also had a team-high 6
game-winning goals for the Toros who finished the year ranked No.
11 with an 18-4-1 record en route to winning its fourth
consecutive California Collegiate Athletic Association title. |
