POMONA -- Cal Poly Pomona’s defending back-to-back NCAA Division II champions got their first CCAA victory of the season as the Broncos fought off a stern challenge from Cal State Dominguez Hills (2-3, 1-2 CCAA) before pulling away for a 66-55 victory Friday night in Kellogg Gym.

The Broncos, though, shot a more respectable 42 percent in the second half when they outscored Cal State Dominguez Hills, 39-25. Cal Poly Pomona owned a 46-38 advantage on the boards.

The Toros were led by freshman Teresa Cooper, who had 13 points and six rebounds, while Octavia Askew added 11 points and five rebounds.
